We're up at 5am for our 7am flight to Phoenix. Here's what we see on the bumpy flight on our tiny propeller plane to Flagstaff:
We arrive at noon, rent our gray Chevy Impala from Avis and start the 2 hour drive to Grand Canyon on Rt 180. Luckily, there was a Chevron on that lonely road coz I really needed to pee, hehe. We also buy some hiking supplies at their little store. We arrive at 3pm and I get small glimpse of the Grand Canyon as I'm driving and can only say
Wow! We check into Yavapai Lodge and walk to the Visitor's Center and plan our hikes. We then walk to Mather point and take some pics of the amazing view. The Grand Canyon is huge! Pictures really don't do it justice but I try anyway:
We grab a snack at Yavapai Cafeteria which is pretty decent and cheap for a tourist spot. We then take the free shuttles to Hermit's Rest Trail and hike a couple of miles drinking in the view and taking sunset pics. I take so long taking pictures that we have to walk really fast to get to Hopi Point where the sunset was supposed to be best. I think we probably missed the best part of it because when we arrived, it was already starting to get dark but I really can't complain:
We end the eventful day with dinner at our favorite Yavapai Cafeteria. :-)
