The Gimp
I've been learning how to post-process pictures using the open source tool The Gimp (as opposed to the expensive Adobe Photoshop)... It's really been both fun and time-consuming...
Here's a sample of a post-processed Chiemsee, Germany album:

I finally understand now why a digicam with greater than 2-3 megapixels might actually be useful... It's so satisfying to be able to crop to the most interesting portion of a picture and still have enough resolution for it to look and print nicely.
